Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information, depending on how you use the service:

• From consumers: your matchmaker quiz answers (such as intent, city, timeline, and style preferences), any search queries, and (only if you choose to share them) your name, email, and phone number when you ask us to make an introduction.
• From agents: your profile details (name, brokerage, licence number, business contact methods, service areas, specialties, languages, bio, and uploaded documents), account and sign-in information, and subscription details.
• From reviewers: the review you submit and your contact details, which we use to verify the review and keep private.
• Automatically: standard usage and device information such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and similar log data, including through cookies and similar technologies.

How we use your information

• To operate the matchmaking service and connect consumers with suitable agents.
• To create, display, and verify agent profiles, reviews, badges, and recognition.
• To process agent subscriptions and payments through our payment provider.
• To communicate with you about your account, inquiries, and the service.
• To maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
• To understand and improve how the service is used.

Payment information

Agent subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We do not collect or store full payment card numbers on our systems; that information is handled directly by Stripe under its own terms and privacy policy. We retain limited billing details such as your subscription tier and status.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We use trusted third-party providers to operate agentmatchmaker, including providers for hosting and database, authentication, and payment processing, and we may use providers for email delivery and analytics. Examples include Stripe (payments), along with our authentication, hosting/database, and mapping/location-data providers. These providers process information on our behalf under their own agreements.

We also share information where required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.

Cross-border processing

Some of our service providers are located outside Canada, including in the United States, so your personal information may be processed or stored outside Canada and may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions. We take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected in a manner consistent with this policy and applicable law.

Public information

Agent profiles, verified reviews, and related recognition are intended to be shown publicly. Whether an agent's contact details appear publicly depends on the agent's subscription tier and status. A reviewer's email address, phone number, property address, and consent metadata are never shown publicly; consumer quiz answers and the contact details you submit for an introduction are also not published publicly.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work without them.

Commercial electronic messages (CASL)

Where we send commercial electronic messages such as marketing emails, we do so only with your consent or as otherwise permitted under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Every commercial message includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can opt out at any time. Service and transactional messages related to your account may still be sent.

Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the service and for legitimate business or legal purposes, after which we delete or de-identify it.

Your privacy rights (PIPEDA / BC PIPA)

We handle personal information in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy laws, including the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, in British Columbia, the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). Subject to applicable law, you may: request access to the personal information we hold about you; ask us to correct inaccurate information; withdraw your consent to certain uses; and request deletion of your information. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

agentmatchmaker is not directed to children and is intended for users who are at least the age of majority in their province. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
